On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the company, the whole team of mmc AG went to the Harz region. In the best sunny October weather, the employees of Müller Industrie-Elektronik GmbH and Buderus Services GmbH climbed together, starting from Schierke, the Brocken at 1,141 m above sea level the highest mountain of Northern Germany.

Company outing on the Harz Brocken and in a metallurgical plant of Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH

After a return trip on the steam locomotive Brockenbahn and an interesting city tour through the illuminated Harz town of Wernigerode in the evening, as well as a convivial ending in the hotel, on the second day we had an impressive factory visit.

Visitation of the metallurgical plant Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH:

Glowing steel, rolls weighing several tons and rotating coiling lines in the hot strip mill. In the Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH rolling mill, slabs (steel blocks) weighing up to 35 t are heated to 1,200 degrees, rolled to a hot strip of up to 2,000 m in length, cooled and wound into coils. There are hardly any people on the grounds. Monitoring of flat steel production takes place in the control rooms and by thousands of sensors that record more than 120,000 production data in real time, processed by more than 400 computers.

For the employees, the factory tour of the steelworks provided impressive insights into heavy industry and the associated high demands on measuring and control technology.
